President's Letter about October Events

“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers”

-                                                          -Anne of Green Gables

October 7, 2025

Dear Evergreen Garden Club Members,

Do you have a favorite month? October may just be mine! The air is cool (always appreciated by a girl who grew up in Phoenix, Arizona) and the garden is filled with the earthy scent of Autumn. This time of year, a garden may remind us of both the fragility of life and its abundance. Next time you are in your garden, see how the light filters through the branches overhead and breathe deeply.

Tuesday, October 21, 10:00am Program Meeting

The Enduring Appeal of Antique Botanicals

Location: Jane Dana’s Home

3105 36th Street NW Washington, DC 20016 (202)251-3567

Hospitality: Winkie Crigler and Lauren Sherlock

This is sure to please as our guest speaker Christine Diamond, owner of Taylor Carlisle Gallery in Potomac, will talk about why people are drawn to these unique antiques. Christine will bring pieces from her own collection, share information and a handout with key terms and we will learn how to authenticate pieces. Christine is a well-regarded speaker and who knows we may find out we have a collectible botanical back home!

Be sure to RSVP to Ann Reid at acarrollr@gmail.com by Tuesday, October14, 2025.

Your attendance and participation in meetings and activities are indispensable.

Nothing is more certain than death, taxes, and Evergreen Garden Club dues!

Everyone received a dues invoice from Treasurer Winkie Crigler for $150 payable by October 31, 2025. Please consider bringing a check to the October 21st meeting.

CHANGE IN DATE. Fall Tregaron Volunteer Workday is Tuesday, October 28, 2025, 10:00 am.

Please mark your calendars and lend a hand.  It is a morning of rewarding work, camaraderie, and in the best tradition of EGC community service. Contact Colet Michell (m.colet@verizon.net) to volunteer or for more information.

Look for the budget and September minutes which will be sent separately for your review and discussion at the October meeting.

Until next time,

Ellen 🪴🪏
